Silvia Frota holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the Cásper Líbero School of Social Communication (1994) and in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (2003). She also has a Master's degree (2012) and a PhD (2016) in Culture and Communication from the Faculty of Arts, University of Lisbon (FLUL). Silvia Frota currently teaches in the Culture and Communication program at FLUL. She is a member of the Center for Comparative Studies at FLUL (CEComp), where she participates in the project “Constellations of Memory: A Multidirectional Study of Migration and Post-colonial Memory,” funded by FCT (CEECIND/03592/2018). She is the coordinator of the research line Citizenship, Media, and Cultural Production and develops the project Digital Media Nation: Nationalism, Identity, and Citizenship in the Digital Age. Her main research interests include Communication and Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Nationalisms, and Critical Discourse Studies.
