Realizadoras Portuguesas: Cinema no Feminino na Era Contemporânea, edited by Mariana Liz (CECOMP-FLUL) and Hilary Owen, has recently been published. A Portuguese translation of Women’s Cinema in Contemporary Portugal, the book gathers a preface by Lídia Jorge and texts by authors based in Portugal, the UK and the USA, which examine films directed by 14 filmmakers in Portugal, fiction and documentary, in the last 50 years.
A book launch will take place on 4 May at 6pm at Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu do Cinema, in partnership with Livraria Linha de Sombra and IndieLisboa International Film Festival.
