Claudia J. Fischer is an assistant professor in the Department of German Studies at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, where she also directs the Master's Degree in Comparative Studies. At the Center for Comparative Studies, she coordinates the research subgroup “Synesthesia/THELEME”, dedicated to Interart and Intermedia Studies. She obtained her PhD in Literary Theory in 2007, with a thesis on Grace and Graciousness (Verbo, 2015). She was a visiting professor in the Department of Comparative Literature at Indiana University (USA) in 2018 and has taught on Erasmus mobility at the universities of Göttingen (Germany) and Salzburg (Austria). Her main research interests lie in the relationship between literature and music, and she has mainly worked on nineteenth-century authors. She has translated Thomas Mann, Bertolt Brecht, Rainer Maria Rilke, Walter Benjamin, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and, together with Vera San Payo de Lemos, Tempo do Coração (Antígona, 2020), the correspondence between Ingeborg Bachmann and Paul Celan.
