Elena Cordero Hoyo completed a PhD about women’s access to silent cinema in Portugal and Spain from the International PhD Programme in Comparative Studies (PhD-COMP) at the U. of Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities in 2022 in partnership with the U. Bologna (Italy) and KU Leuven (Belgium), with a PhD scholarship from the FCT (PD/BD/128075/2016).
She is member of CEComp and part of the working team of the following research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation: ‘Football and Visual Culture under Francoism: Discourses of Class, Gender and National Construction in Cinema, Newsreels and the Press, 1939-1975’ of the U. Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona (PID2020-116277GA-I00) and ‘Visiones del cuerpo enfermo en el cine y la fotografía: patologías físicas y psíquicas’, of the U. de Girona (PID2021-125555NBI00). Also, she is Chief Editor of Secuencias, an indexed online film history journal and Professor in the U. Rey Juan Carlos.
