With a degree in Journalism from Faculdade de Comunicação Social Cásper Líbero (1994) and in Law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2003), and an MA and PhD in Culture and Communication from the School of Arts and Humanities (FLUL), University of Lisbon (2012, 2016), Silvia Frota is currently teaching in the Program of Culture and Communication, at FLUL. She is a member of the Centre for Comparative Studies at FLUL (CEComp), where she is part of the project “Constellations of Memory: A Multidirectional Study of Migration and Postcolonial Memory”, funded by FCT (CEECIND/03592/2018). She is also the coordinator of the Research line Citizenship, Media and Cultural Production and the responsible for the project Digital Media Nation: Nationalism, Identity and Citizenship in the Digital Age.
