Mariana holds a law degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She practiced law between 2007 and 2014. She holds a master's degree in translation from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She wrote a dissertation on theater translation based on the staging of Tennessee Williams’ play The Night of the Iguana by the director Jorge Silva Melo. She was a researcher at CETAPS (FCSH) until 2018. She regularly translates plays for the collection Livrinhos de Teatro (Artistas Unidos/Snob). She is currently preparing a PhD dissertation about the unpublished letters of the pianist Maria da Graça Amado da Cunha (1919-2001). She is a member of the team of the research project "Textualidades" and is currently preparing her PhD thesis in Portuguese Studies.
