Telma Carvalho is a PhD candidate in Comparative Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, under a scholarship from FCT. She holds a master degree in Translation (University of Lisbon, 2020) and a bachelor degree in Chinese-Portuguese Translation (Leiria Polytechnic Institute/Macao Polytechnic Institute/Beijing Language and Culture University, 2011). Prior to her postgraduate studies, she worked in translation and teaching of Portuguese at several universities in China, where she lived for ten years to better understand the country and the language. Her research interests broadly fall under the fields of Translation, Chinese Modern Literature and, more recently, Chinese Science Fiction.
