With a degree in Comparative Languages, Literatures and Cultures, English and Spanish (2009), from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL) and an MA in Translation Studies (specialisation in English) (2014) from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon (FCSH), Hélder Lopes is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Comparative Studies, FLUL. Based on the work of the Theatre Troupe of the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Mindelo (Camões Institute) he is developing research on postcolonial theatre translation in Cape Verde under the mentorship of Prof. Inocência Mata (University of Lisbon), Prof. Marta Pacheco Pinto (University of Lisbon), and Prof. Reine Meylaerts (KU Leuven). He is a member of the European Society for Translation Studies and a member of the Association for Translation Studies in Africa.
