One Scholar, Six Seminars
2-13 October 2023 | 17:00-19:00 | B112.B & B112.D, FLUL
In an initiative that we hope will become annual, the Directive Board of the Centre for Comparative Studies (CEComp) has invited a world-renowned author and researcher to deliver a two-week course aimed not only at the Centre's researchers, but also at any other researchers and graduate students whose work is related to Comparative Studies.
The choice for the inaugural course of the series "One Master, Six Seminars" was Professor David Quint, Emeritus Professor at Yale University, USA.
Author of seminal books on Vergil, Cervantes, and Montaigne, and the initiator of new inquiries into writers from various languages and cultural contexts, Professor Quint brings to Lisbon a historical journey through various literary forms and the social and moral values associated with them, in texts originally written in Portuguese and English.
Along the way, Professor Quint will comment on the presentations of three participants in the course, and everyone will have the opportunity, in turn, to read and discuss a new essay by the Professor.
The course is free, but requires registration. You can register, until September 27, by filling out this form.
